Jesca Arnold braved walking down the path toward a couple of benches. She stopped as close as she could muster and told her story of an attack on the Trinity Trails in Fort Worth. She then she started a nonprofit, Safe and Happy Trails, to bring security to the trails.

With a bustling economy, Fort Worth’s population is booming. Land is converted to houses as growth reaches to other counties. But the growth hasn’t come without complications, especially when it comes to preserving open spaces.


Near Fort Worth, two ranches are taking a different approach - one is restoring the prairie, the other teaching others how to work with the prairie. But both are keeping development at bay.
